The journey of the magazine began in San Diego early 2003. With departure of Revolt in Style after 18 years, a couple of there main guys hooked up with me while I was managing local night clubs. Originally first published as “Grenade Magazine” within the first week out in circulation, we discovered we made an honest mistake in researching our name. To make along story short, these Beverly Hills attorney’s ordered us to cease and desist immediately on the name “Grenade”. While most people would have just washed their hands and moved on, we wouldn’t give up to bring San Diego something cool. Well despite what happened, we surprised everyone and launched our second publication a few months later, we called “KROWN”. Soon following that issue, partner decided to leave San Diego and move away get married up to Northern California. This now left me responsible to keep the magazine alive, now by myself, and again they all said it was a good run and gave it another shot but I wasn’t finished and my experience of running strip clubs and others in San Diego, tired of seeing these young girls getting exploited, disrespected from trying to follow their dreams to become the next model. Giving them a kickstart and a little direction that was my main goal with the KROWN GIRLS. Now over 1000 across the country and others, were still here doing the same. We’ll it’s now going on 7 years, 4 bullsh#t all talk want-to-be partners later, I’m still here rollin’ this myself. So what up to those that tried to talk sh#t, I’m still f%cking here without the money like the other magazines have that say there from San Diego. Where you at now! Last, I want to say thank you to all that supported me and been down for the KROWN.
