About Me
Jen Mathias is a creative force to be reckoned with in the beauty and fashion industry . She’s been creating unique and innovative hair styles for over 11 years. During that time she has worked with some of the most elite companies and agencies in the industry including L’Oreal Paris and MAC. Not only is Jen an award winning stylist but also an accomplished make up artist and photographer. Jen has an extremely talented eye and the artistic ability to pull off any concept her heart desires. This kind of “triple threat” doesn’t happen often in this industry, which makes Jen’s work even more unique and inspiring.
Jen found her passion in late 1999 when she decided to attend Mitchell’s Hairstyling Academy in Cary, NC. She quickly fell in love with the art of hairstyling and succeeded in mastering even the most advanced of techniques. Upon graduating, Jen continued her extensive training in all aspects of hairstyling as well as make up artistry, skin care, and wardrobe styling. At that time she began educating other hairstylists by teaching hands on classes at several local salons. Then the salon Jen worked in as a hair color specialist won the local award for “Best Color Salon” two years in a row. All the while Jen still remembered the goal she had set for herself back when she started school, which was to start a salon of her very own.
After earning the title of Master Color Specialist, Jen embarked on a new adventure of becoming self employed which she achieved in 2005. After becoming an independent contractor, Jen began doing freelance work in her spare time in order to build a portfolio. Jen used the name D’Jin for all her freelance work and within a short amount of time became one of the most popular local artists among photographers and models alike. During her time as a freelance artist she earned several awards, certificates of achievement and industry recognition. In 2008 all Jen’s dreams came true when she opened her own salon, undoubtedly she named it D’Jin Salon. After having her salon for barely a year, Jen decided to start a photography based business called “Ooh La La…Makeovers to Remember”. For two years Jen simultaneously did freelance work while operating both businesses.
